Research and development

We do this by testing new treatment methods in various research projects, but also by critically reviewing our own organisation to see how we can make improvements.

In collaboration with Karolinkska Institutet, we conduct research, development and training within general medicine, psychiatry, addiction care, child and adolescent psychiatry, habilitation and public health. We also conduct research into geriatric care together with a number of municipalities.

Research projects are always subject to scrutiny by an ethical approval authority. This is to ensure that the research is conducted in the correct way, and that due consideration has been shown to the weighing up of the benefit of the research against the potential effects of the treatment.

You decide whether you want to participate

As a patient with us, you may be asked if you wish to participate in a research project. This will often involve you being asked to complete one or more questionnaires, or to undergo an additional medical examination.

It is always you who decides whether you want to take part in any study we might ask you about. Your decision will not make any difference to the regular treatment you receive.

If you are deemed to be suitable for an ongoing project, you will be asked if you would like to participate. You will be given detailed information about what the project would involve for you.
